Nicolas
I am from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where jiu jitsu and surfing are part of the culture, and I have always played sports. I trained jiu jitsu as a kid, then stopped for a few years and just surfed and played other sports, until at 18 a neighbor invited me to train jiu jitsu. Since that day I have never stopped.
I went from white belt to brown belt at a gym called Brigadeiro Jiu Jitsu, under master Marcelo Brigadeiro, where my teacher was Marquinho Pit Bull. When I earned my brown belt I moved and looked for a gym closer to me, and I found West Side Jiu Jitsu, under Professor Gustavo Borges (Mamute).
As a brown belt I trained hard and started teaching, and that is when the opportunity came to teach at Gracie Kore, a renowned academy founded by Kyra Gracie, world champion and jiu jitsu Hall of Fame. At Gracie Kore I took courses, attended seminars and learned to teach from jiu jitsu legends such as Roger Gracie, Kyra Gracie, Renzo Gracie, Ralph Gracie and Pedro Valente, and I taught alongside Rayron Gracie, Rayan Gracie's son. That is where I learned to teach with real method, didactics and excellence.
I received my black belt from my teacher Gustavo Borges (Mamute), West Side Jiu Jitsu and GFTeam. Today I have 15 years dedicated to jiu jitsu and 5 years of experience as a teacher.
I run my own school, Holmes Jiu Jitsu, where I teach. I believe jiu jitsu is a tool to transform lives. It goes far beyond a martial art. It is about forming better human beings, with values, respect, discipline, focus and resilience. At Holmes Jiu Jitsu we teach children and adults, because we believe jiu jitsu is for everyone.
